Rules at a glance
What we can say from public information. Where a provider has not published a number, this page does not guess one.
- 5-hour window
- Codex meters usage in a rolling 5-hour window per account. When it fills, you wait for that window to roll over; the exact time is shown by /status.
- Weekly limit
- A weekly cap sits on top of the 5-hour window. OpenAI does not publish the numbers, and this site does not guess them. Once it is hit, only the weekly clock or an official reset brings it back.
- Reset card
- Codex has issued banked resets: a reset card you redeem yourself inside the CLI. Redeeming one zeroes both the 5-hour and weekly windows. The board shows BANKED when the latest signal is a card.
- How to check
- Run /status or /usage in the Codex CLI to see both windows and when they refresh. Paste that time into the window tracker for a countdown and a calendar file.Window tracker
